For Your Information Week of 11-17-19

  • REMEMBER:   Our time together will start at 10:25 a.m. in order to give us the opportunity to hear about the missions and ministries that are active and the events that are being planned at MGBC.  Our hope is that by 10:30 a.m. we will be prepared for the purpose for which we have gathered; and that is of course to worship God.
  • THE PASTOR STRONGLY ENCOURAGES YOU WHO ARE WILLING TO COME AS CLOSE TO THE FRONT BEFORE HE BEGINS PREACHING.                                                                                                                                           
  • WEDNESDAY EVENING PROGRAMS: Join us for all of our Wednesday activities.  Please join us for supper a 5:15 p.m.  The menu this week is Spaghetti, Salad,  Garlic Bread & Dessert. All adults are asked to bring their bibles for the new study on The Sermon on the Mount.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      NEEDY FAMILIES CHRISTMAS:  We are taking requests for help with Christmas.  Requests can be made by families needing help by contacting the church office before December 1st.  If you would like to donate toys or monies, please contact Attalissa.
  • CHRISTMAS POINSETTIAS:  Forms for purchasing Poinsettias are included in your bulletin.  There will also be extra copies in the Education Building and the Sanctuary.  The cost is $9.00 each.  The form needs to be filled out with the money attached by Sunday, November 24th.  The acknowledgements will be in the bulletin on December 15th and the plants can be taken home on Sunday, December 22nd.                                                                            THANKSGIVING FEAST:  FaithJam will be hosting a Thanksgiving Feast for the congregation following the worship service today.   We hope to see everyone at our Church Family Feast!
  • SAVE THE DATE:  The Mountain View Seniors will be having a covered dish luncheon at Zion Lutheran Church on Wednesday, November 20th at 12 noon.
  • STAFF MEETING:  There will be a staff meeting on November 24th immediately following the worship service.                                                                                                                                          
  • HANGING OF THE GREENS:  We will begin the Advent Season with the Hanging of the Greens on  December 1st at 6 p.m.
  • MISSION OPPORTUNITY:  During November, our church will collect an offering for Baptist Children’s Homes.  In 2018 BCH provided care for 16,796 children who had to be removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect by their parents.  BCH operates both group homes and foster homes to meet the needs of the children.
  • CALLING ALL KIDS IN ACTION, YOUTH & WMU LADIES:  Sunday, November 24th, we will be making lap blankets for residents of Trinity Ridge.  FaithJam will deliver the blankets in December.  We will meet right after worship service and have a light lunch.  Bring your sewing scissors and help us make the no-sew blankets!!  Last year we made 10 blankets; let’s see how many we can do this year!  Any questions, please see Judy Hilton.

  • OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD:  Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes will be gathered during our worship service on Sunday November 17th!  Please bring your filled shoe box to the vestibule before 10:30 on that Sunday and the children will carry the shoe boxes in for a blessing.  Please see Kelly Cole with any questions.
  • SENIOR LUNCHEON:  The Youth will be honoring our Seniors with a meal today after the worship service.  Please join us for a time of fellowship!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  
  • 2020 CHURCH BUDGET:  The church will vote on the 2020 Budget on Sunday, November 17th after morning worship. The last budget discussions will be held on November 13th.  In addition, there will be a report and recommendation from the cemetery committee.
  • THANKSGIVING FEAST:  FaithJam will be hosting a Thanksgiving Feast for the congregation following the worship service on November 17th. We hope to see everyone at our Church Family Feast!
  • MISSION OPPORTUNITY:  During November, our church will collect an offering for Baptist Children’s Homes.  BCH operates 21 locations in North Carolina including Care House in Lenoir, Mills Home is Thomasville, and Broyhill Home in Clyde.  Please pray for the children and staff who live and work in these locations.

  • MISSIONS:  During October, MGBC collected food for Cooperative Christian Ministry & gloves for the Women’s Prison Ministry of the WMU.  We delivered 7 bags of canned food to CCM and 49 pairs of gloves to the Associational WMU.  Thanks for your support of these ministries.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      PRAYER OPPORTUNITY:  The women of the Catawba Valley Baptist Association     are holding a Women’s World Day of Prayer service on Monday, November 4th at 7 p.m.  The service will be held at Springs Road Baptist Church.  If you would like to attend, please see Linda Robinette.

  • WEDNESDAY EVENING PROGRAMS: Join us for all of our normal Wednesday activities.  Please join us for supper at 5:15 p.m.  The menu for this week is to be determined.  All adults are asked to bring their bibles for the new study on The Sermon on the Mount.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      TRUNK OR TREAT:  Trunk or Treat will be held on October 31st from 6-7:30 p.m.  There will be a free hot dog dinner for all who attend.  We will be serving hot dogs to those who are helping at 5:15 so we are all free to work the event.  There is a bin outside the office for candy donations.  We are in need of people to decorate their trunks and hand out candy to the children.  We can’t have too many trunks!  Anyone who can help, please come out and be ready to start by 6 p.m.  Thank you to all who help and donate.
  • HARVESTFEST:  Harvestfest is here!!  It will run from 11:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. this Saturday, November 2nd.  Bring all your families and friends to have a great time rain or shine.  Frank needs all the help he can get on Friday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. to get some things done.  He will also need help Saturday morning around 8:00 a.m. to get things rolling.  Please come out to help this important event at MGBC!  There will also be a Community Blood Drive this year at Harvestfest for anyone who would like to donate.

  • WEDNESDAY EVENING PROGRAMS: Join us for all of our normal Wednesday activities.  Please join us for supper at 5:15 p.m.  The menu for this week is to be determined.  All adults are asked to bring their bibles for the new study on The Sermon on the Mount.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    MISSION OPPORTUNITY:  MGBC will collect food for Greater Cooperative Christian Ministry during October.  Non-perishable foods including fruits, vegetables, soups, stews, peanut butter, and meats are needed.  Both family size and individual size containers can be donated for distribution to those in need in need in the community.  Please place your donations in the grocery cart behind the sanctuary.
  • MISSION OPPORTUNITY:  The Catawba Valley Associational WMU is collecting stretchy one-size-fits-all gloves for the Red Box Women’s Prison Ministry.  They request plain colored gloves.  The gloves will be included in gifts that will be distributed to women in prison.  If you would like to support this ministry, place gloves in the red box on the shelf across from the office.  Contact Linda Robinette if you have any questions.
  • STAFF MEETING:  There will be a staff meeting today following the worship service.
  • DEACON’S MEETING:  There will be a Deacon’s meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m.
  • HARVESTFEST:  November 2nd  is right around the corner!  Hobo Soup is a big item at Harvestfest.  Attalissa has needs for ground beef, mixed vegetables (frozen or canned), canned tomatoes and tomato sauce.  Also, lids and rings for quart jars are needed.  There will also be a Community Blood Drive this year at Harvestfest for anyone who would like to donate.
  • LIFE LINE SCREENING:  MGBC will be hosting Life Line Screening on Thursday, October 24th in the FLB.  The screenings provided include Osteoporosis Risk Assessment and screenings for Cardiovascular disease.  Please take a pink copy from Life Line Screening outlining the details of this coming event.  They are located in the Sanctuary and in the Education Building.
  • PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE:  There will be a Pastor Search Committee meeting on Monday, October 21st at 6:30 p.m.
