For Your Information Week 10-20-19

  • WEDNESDAY EVENING PROGRAMS: Join us for all of our normal Wednesday activities.  Please join us for supper at 5:15 p.m.  The menu for this week is to be determined.  All adults are asked to bring their bibles for the new study on The Sermon on the Mount.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    MISSION OPPORTUNITY:  MGBC will collect food for Greater Cooperative Christian Ministry during October.  Non-perishable foods including fruits, vegetables, soups, stews, peanut butter, and meats are needed.  Both family size and individual size containers can be donated for distribution to those in need in need in the community.  Please place your donations in the grocery cart behind the sanctuary.
  • MISSION OPPORTUNITY:  The Catawba Valley Associational WMU is collecting stretchy one-size-fits-all gloves for the Red Box Women’s Prison Ministry.  They request plain colored gloves.  The gloves will be included in gifts that will be distributed to women in prison.  If you would like to support this ministry, place gloves in the red box on the shelf across from the office.  Contact Linda Robinette if you have any questions.
  • STAFF MEETING:  There will be a staff meeting today following the worship service.
  • DEACON’S MEETING:  There will be a Deacon’s meeting tonight at 6:30 p.m.
  • HARVESTFEST:  November 2nd  is right around the corner!  Hobo Soup is a big item at Harvestfest.  Attalissa has needs for ground beef, mixed vegetables (frozen or canned), canned tomatoes and tomato sauce.  Also, lids and rings for quart jars are needed.  There will also be a Community Blood Drive this year at Harvestfest for anyone who would like to donate.
  • LIFE LINE SCREENING:  MGBC will be hosting Life Line Screening on Thursday, October 24th in the FLB.  The screenings provided include Osteoporosis Risk Assessment and screenings for Cardiovascular disease.  Please take a pink copy from Life Line Screening outlining the details of this coming event.  They are located in the Sanctuary and in the Education Building.
  • PASTOR SEARCH COMMITTEE:  There will be a Pastor Search Committee meeting on Monday, October 21st at 6:30 p.m.
  • TRUNK OR TREAT:  Trunk or Treat will be held on October 31st from 6-7:30 p.m.  There will be a free hot dog dinner for all who attend.  We will be serving hot dogs to those who are helping at 5:15 so we are all free to work the event.  There is a bin outside the office for all candy donations. We are in need of people to decorate their trunks and hand out candy to the children.  We can’t have too many trunks!  Anyone who can help, please come out and be ready to start by 6 pm.  Thank you to all who help and donate!    
  • SAVE THE DATE:  On Sunday, November 17th, FaithJam will be hosting a Thanksgiving Feast for the congregation following the worship service.  We hope to see everyone at our Church Family Feast!

  • MISSION OPPORTUNITY:  Baptists On Mission is continuing to work in eastern NC to rebuild homes that were damaged in Hurricane Florence.  They expect this work will continue for the next 2 or 3 years.  Volunteers are needed to assist in this work.  If you are interested in volunteering, go to www.baptistsonmission.org/Florence, or contact Tom Beam, BOM staff, at (800) 395-5102 Ext. 5626 or (919) 459-5626.  Baptists On Mission is a function of Baptist State Convention of NC, and offers mission opportunities for men, women, and students.

  • BABY SHOWER:  There will be a baby shower today for Melissa Jennings from 2-4 pm in the Family Life Building.  She is having a boy and is registered at Target.  We will also be having a taco bar.  Everyone is invited to attend!
  • COMMITTEE MEETING:  All committee members are asked to meet at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, September 25th.  The purpose of this meeting is to elect your chair person and discern any and all needs that need to be addressed on behalf of the church going forward.
