AWANA The purpose of the Awana® program is to reach children and youth for Christ. Awana blends together Bible teaching, Scripture memorization and tons of fun. The Awana club for preschoolers, Cubbies, is designed to reach and train kids for Jesus Christ. Games, puppets, crafts, awards and other activities combine to make a lively weekly experience where fun and learning go hand in hand. The Sparks program (K-2) is firmly grounded in scripture. The study of basic Christian truths and familiarization with key Bible verses form a strong foundation for understanding of the gospel message.
The name Truth & Training reflects the passion of AWANA to teach boys and girls in grades 3-6 the truth of God's Word and to train them to follow Jesus in their daily lives.Awana's program for 7th to 9th graders takes real questions from real students and answers them from the Bible in ways that are both relevant and engaging.
CHILDREN'S CHOIRS Children's choirs meet Wednesday evenings beginning at 6:00 p.m. as part of our AWANA progrmming during the school year. The choirs sing regularly in Sunday worship services, and they present a large-scale musical production each December.
MISSIONS During the AWANA year, the 4th Wednesday night of each month is set aside for children to focus on missions. Food, games, crafts and videos help the children learn about missionaries and cultures throughout the world.
Mountain Grove kids participate in outreach activities throughout the year. They lead canned food collection efforts for the food pantry at Cooperative Christian Ministries; contribute to Operation Christmas Child by donating items and helping pack shoe boxes; and make items for Mountain Grove’s C.A.R.E. ministry.
SUNDAY SCHOOL The youngest children (birth to age 3) use the AWANA Puggles curriculum to present two basic biblical concepts: people are unique creations of God and He loves us very much. Take home cards give parents ideas for reinforcing the lesson all week long.
Our preschool class focuses on Bible stories.
Children in grades 1-3 are currently studying The Fruit of the Spirit through stories, hands-on activities and games.
Grades 4-6 are using the God and Family curriculum which is designed to teach children about the importance of family and God’s role in a healthy family. The program gives children and their families the opportunity to explore their faith together while comparing families and “pizza.”
VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
Each year we have Vacation Bible School for children ages birth to sixth grade. We have a new theme each year that allows the children to learn about God and the things He has done for us. The week includes fun adventures with Bible stories, recreation, music and crafts. VBS is concluded each year with a commencement service on Sunday morning followed by a church-wide meal and fellowship.
