What to expect in Sunday worship....

Mountain Grove Baptist Church is a friendly, family-oriented, caring, blue-collar/professional congregation in the Mountain View area of south Hickory (NC). Mountain Grove's motto, "a shining light on the mountain," reflects both its mission "to know God and to make God known" and its location at the base of Bakers Mountain.

Mountain Grove's worship services have two purposes. First is the worship of God. We believe that we are called as Christians to come together to praise God and to lift our voices to him in worship and awe of him. Second is the teaching of God's word: his plan for us to experience both forgiveness through Jesus and a deep daily relationship with him.

Visitors are always welcome in our services. You'll find the congregation welcoming and warm, but you won't have to worry about being singled out in the service. We have a time early in the service when we greet each other with a handshake, so you'll have a chance to meet some folks at that time.

Our worship style is a blend of traditional hymns and more contemporary songs of the Christian faith in an unpretentious and genuine setting. Most of the women wear either a dress or office slacks. Most of the men wear Khakis and an open collar shirt, although some still wear a coat and tie. Children come in school clothes appropriate for a field trip to the theatre or museum. The important part is not what we wear but that we enjoy gathering together on Sunday mornings to worship God.

A nursery is available for those with infants. School age children attend the first part of the worship service and then leave about 11:00 for our children's worship service.
